Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) Scheme
Under the SPDC scheme, financial assistance for specific undergraduate courses in Professional and Non-Professional courses (except Medical and related courses) is provided towards tuition fee, admission fee and post admission services.
The existing SPDC Scheme has been revamped. Now, the scheme is applicable to following four categories of applicants: a) Persons of Indian Origin, b) Non-Resident of Indians, c) Children of Indian workers working in ECR countries (includes Oman), d) Children (studying in India) of Indian workers in ECR countries (includes Oman).
Number of Scholarships: Scholarship shall be provided to 150 selected students out of which 50 scholarships are earmarked for Children of Indian workers (CIWG) in the 17 Emigration Check Required (ECR) countries, including Oman, subject to fulfilling eligibility conditions.
Institutions covered under SPDC scheme: a) NITs, IIITs, Schools of Planning and Architecture, b) ‘A’ Grade institutions accredited by NAAC and recognised by UGC, c) Other institutions covered under DASA scheme.
An online portal for SPDC, for online submission of application, processing and an alumni network, will “go live” shortly.
The last date of submission of application for the SPDC for 2016-17 is 31st August 2016
