Nomination under Self Financing Scheme (SFS)


Applications for nomination under Self Financing Scheme (SFS) for Omani students in India for B.Engineering / B.Architecture / B.Pharmacy courses for academic year 2017-18.


The Government of India has invited applications from Omani students interested to study courses in Engineering, Architecture and Pharmacy in government academic institutions in India for academic year 2017-18 under the ‘Nomination under Self-Financing Scheme (SFS) for foreign students from friendly developing countries’.


(Indian expatriates/PIOs/OCIs/NRIs are not eligible to apply)


Eligibility criteria:

1)B.Pharmacy course: A candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% of aggregate marks with at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) separately and 50% in English in the qualifying examination (equivalent to 10 + 2 standard of CBSE in India).


2) B.Engineering / B.Architecture course: A candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks with at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics separately and 50% in English in the qualifying examination (equivalent to 10 + 2 standard of CBSE in India).




a) Marks obtained should be indicated in percentages and not in grades. Marks obtained in 11th standard examination should not be taken into consideration while computing marks obtained for 12th standard examination. If the percentages of marks are not indicated, the application will be rejected.


b) Students can also apply pending final declaration of their qualifying examination results equivalent to 10 + 2 standard of CBSE in India.


c) A Certificate of Equivalence must be obtained from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi; indicating that the candidate’s qualifying examination is equivalent to 10+2 standard of CBSE in India. Generally the following examinations available in Oman are considered by the AIU as equivalent to 10+2 standard of India: STPM; GCE A-Levels / IGCSE / GCSE examinations; 12-year American High School Diploma; International Baccalaureate (IB); 12-year Secondary Stage examination conducted by various Provinces in Canada and Australia i.e. 2-years of Canadian Pre-University (CPU) and 2-years of South Australian Matriculation (SAM).


Applicants should enclose the following attested copies in triplicate with their application:


(i) Certificates and mark-sheets of the final qualifying examination

(ii) Passport

(iii) Identity Card (IC)

(iv) Birth certificate

(v) Character / conduct certificate from the Head of Institution last attended

(vi) Certificate of Equivalence from AIU, New Delhi

Provide copies of authentic English translations of the above mentioned enclosures wherever required. The duly filled-in application along with the relevant enclosures should be submitted in-person at the Embassy, latest by 01 May 2017.

Submission of an application is not an assurance of nomination. The selected students are required to bear all expenses on education and airfare, and they must undertake to return to Oman upon completion of their studies. Candidates are expected to comply with admission formalities and procedures of the respective college/universities.

Procedure for obtaining Equivalence Certificate from AIU


Mrs Sushma Pandey, wife of Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, organized a mesmerizing and memorable evening of ‘Indian Ethnic Saree and Bridal Wear Show’ at the premises of Indian Embassy in Muscat on 25 April, 2017, showcasing the rich heritage of Indian Sarees as well as Bridal wear. It was attended by over 120 women, including spouses of diplomats, Omani women and women from within Indian community.


Yoga events held at the Embassy Auditorium as curtain-raiser to the 3rd International Day of Yoga on 21st June, 2017. The sessions were organized by Muscat Energy Healing Centre and Bliss Foundation in Oman in association with Embassy of India, Muscat on 15th April, 2017.
