Embassy of India, Muscat along with India Tourism
Office, Dubai organized a ‘Incredible India’ evening on 16th
April, 2008 at the Indian Embassy premises. The programme started
with a Welcome Address by Mr. Anil Wadhwa, Ambassador of India to
the Sultanate of Oman, followed by a speech and presentation by Mr.
K.L. Das, Regional Director of the Indian Tourism Office Dubai. The
presentation highlighted India’s experience as a major tourist
destination. Mr. Das also spoke about the measures taken by the
Indian Government and the Indian private sector towards
modernization and upgradation of tourism infrastructure in order to
attract tourists from different parts of the world. The multimedia
presentation showcased the rich, enthralling cultural diversity of
India, epitomized in its historical monuments, and also offered a
glimpse of the various facets of tourism in India such as
eco-tourism, health tourism and adventure tourism etc.
The presentation was followed by a cultural programme
and cocktails and dinner. The captivating cultural programme was
put together by Centre for Performing Arts headed by Mrs. Vasantha
Vaikunth. The Incredible India evening was attended by about more
than 250 guests, including Omani Government officials, foreign heads
of diplomatic missions, representatives of Travel Agencies in Oman,
Omani and Indian business community and prominent Indians.
