Ambassador Anil Wadhwa presented his credentials to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said of Sultanate of Oman at Al Alam Palace in Muscat on  11.11.2007

 

Ambassador Anil Wadhwa presented his credentials to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said of Sultanate of Oman at Al Alam Palace in Muscat today (11.11.2007) accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Sultanate of Oman.

        During the Royal audience with His Majesty the Sultan, Ambassador Wadhwa conveyed greetings and best wishes of Honourable President H.E. Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil to His Majesty the Sultan.  He stressed that he will strive to strengthen cooperation in all fields between the two friendly countries in the joint interests of their two peoples.

         His Majesty the Sultan welcomed the Ambassador and thanked President H.E. Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil for her greetings and best wishes.  His Majesty assured the Ambassador that he would receive all support from His Majesty, the Omani Government and the people of Oman to enable him to perform his duties and stated that this was natural for neighbouring countries.

          Earlier on arrival at the Al Alam Palace in a ceremonial motorcade,  Ambassador Wadhwa was accorded a Guard of Honour by the Royal Guard of Oman.  The Band of the Royal Guard played the National Anthems of India and Oman.

          The credentials presentation ceremony was, inter alia, attended by the Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court H.E. Sayyid Ali bin Hamoud bin Ali Al Busaidi, the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs H.E. Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, the Head of the Royal Protocols H.E. Juma bin Rashid bin Said Al Balushi, the Commander of the Royal Guard of Oman Major General Khalifa bin Abdulllah bin Said al Junaibi and the Military Aides to His Majesty the Sultan.  Mrs. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, wife of the Indian Ambassador and senior officers of the Embassy were also present.

         The Credentials ceremony included the Omani custom of ceremonial eating of Omani Halwa in bowls called “Dees”, drinking of Arabic Coffee in small cups called “Finjans”, use of Rose Water from Silver sprinklers and burning of Omani Fankinsence.
