The 8th Know India Programme ( KIP ) is being organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs from 26th December, 2007 to 18th January, 2008

 

The 8th Know India Programme (KIP) is being organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs from 26th December, 2007 to 18th January, 2008  in partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS).

          2. About 40 participants consisting of Diaspora youth, professionals and students of the age group of 18-26 years are expected to take part in it.  Besides taking part in  programmes  being organised  in Delhi and Tamil Nadu, they would participate in the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas events being held in Delhi from 7-9 January 2008 and would also visit Agra..  The programmes may be subject to minor adjustments keeping the end dates intact.  

          3. Broad guidelines for participation are given below:

(i)         The participants should have distinguished himself/herself in a particular field and should have an abiding interest in India.

(ii)        The participants should be in the age group of 18-26 years.

(iii)               They would be NRIs / Persons of Indian origin resident in any of  the countries mentioned below.

(iv)              Applications from interested persons in the attached registration form should be sent to the nearest Mission/Post so as to be received in this Ministry by the 10th December, 2007. The application should be accompanied by two passport size photographs.

(v)                Not more than 3 nominations will be accepted from one country.

(vi)              The participants will have to pay for their international travel costs from their respective countries to India and back.  An amount equivalent to one-way airfare by the cheapest class (50% of the return fares) will be reimbursed to them by the concerned Indian Mission after ensuring proof of participation and receipts.

(vii)              The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs/Government of Tamil Nadu will bear, in addition, expenditure on internal travel, boarding/lodging. etc. 

(viii)           A per diem allowance of Rs.100/- per day will also be paid to the participants as out-of-pocket allowance.

    4. Nominations have to be forwarded through Indian Missions abroad and participants may contact them for further details.  They may also contact Director(DS)/Under Secretary(DS-I) for any information at e-mails: dirss@moia.nic.in/usds2@moia.nic.in.
